Knowing where to place your AdSense Ads, maximizing your earnings while trying to adhere to the AdSense Policy Program is what’s going to be discussed in this AdSense Tutorial. If you could place your ads effectively in your website it could mean a big difference between earning a few clicks to a dozen. Webmasters are consistently making experiments to discover the most effective places to place their AdSense on their web pages and even Google is helpingpublishers out by giving recommendations where to put them. Although we could do some experiments of our own, it is more advisable if we will study first the results of the experiments of others and recommendations provided Google himself to save us time then base our own experiments through them.
General AdSense Ad Placement
In this AdSense Tutorial we will use some images provided by Google, we will use them as a guide in implementing where we shall place our ads. Please see the image above. If you will observe the color of the squares and rectangles, the darker the image means the more it is susceptible in being clicked. Based on the images below, you will see that the darker images are located within or near the content of the webpage and as the objects go farther and farther away from the center, the color becomes lighter. So let’s analyze a little bit why is this so.
People surfing the internet are searching for needed information or content. Whenever they are directed by search engines to a website based on their query, they actually go straight to the content of the webpage they are viewing. So ads placed or bended within the posts are the most likely links to be clicked. But this is not all conclusive, it will also depend on the types of your visitors. What is emphasized in this AdSense Tutorial is that based on experiments and studies made the objects in the image which are darker tends to gather most of the clicks.
Forum AdSense Ad Placement
The two images presented above and below are some recommended ways by Google on how to place AdSense Ads in web pages for Forums (top) and blogs (bottom). Because blogging is very common nowadays, in this AdSense Tutorial we will focus on the second image.
Blog AdSense Ad Placement
If you will observe carefully, Google allows you to place AdSense ads within your post. I have encountered many webmasters and site owners asking if this is a violation or not. Well, based on the second image above I think Google allows it. What Google does not allow is when you mislead your readers assuming something that it is not. Avery good example is shown in the image below. The AdSense ads are placed beneath the title of the post, which is in general allowed. But if you will analyze further, the title of the post misleads the readers because it is telling them that the “Hot Deals” are presented by the links shown below.
The image shown below is another way to mislead readers. As you can see, you can no longer distinguish the content from the AdSense Ads. The ads themselves look like created content and when your reader clicks the links thinking that it is part of the content and then realizes upon clicking that he is flung far away to another site and will be annoyed. I experienced that before and it really frustrates you like you have been fooled.
