What is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is an advertising program offered by Google to webmasters, site owners or publishers as a means or way to monetize their website. Google AdSense is not just any ordinary ads that you may see in the web, the ads that are displayed are called targeted ads and may vary depending on the content of the surrounding webpage. Meaning to say, the ads that are displayed will be relevant or based on the articles, words or keywords placed in the site. Hence increasing the chances that the reader of your site will visit the links provided by the ads.

The income generated by Google AdSense comes directly from AdWords its counterpart. If Google AdSense is for the publishers then AdWords is made for the advertisers. Unlike any other types of monetization in the Web like affiliate marketing, the product doesn’t need to be sold first in order for you to earn a commission. With just a click from your visitor, you immediately earn a commission. Although there are those that say that some ads displayed needs additional clicks in the site that will be shown. Varying opinion but the bottom line here is we earn just from the clicks of our visitors and no hard selling of products or services is required.

Many think that earning from Google AdSense is easy. Put up a website or blog, start writing, slap your Google AdSense codes within your site and wait for the clicks to come. I guess it doesn’t work that way because if no one is visiting your site, those precious clicks will not be acquired.  Well we really can’t measure if it’s easy medium or hard; all I would say is the income that you would earn from this advertising program will be based on your work and effort. First, you have to provide useful and important content; secondly you need visitors or traffic to your site. In so by saying this, you have to promote your website and do some SEO (search engine optimization) in order to acquire targeted traffic.

Now why is targeted traffic so important in this Google AdSense business? Targeted traffic or traffic gained from search engines or other websites relevant to yours are looking for information that your site can provide. So when they visit your site, they come because of their needed information thus increasing the chance that they may click one of the targeted links shown by your Google AdSense. Going for traffic exchange is a waste of time, not all who will be viewing or visiting your site has any interest in it as much as you to theirs.

With regards to payment, I’ve never heard of anyone complaining that they were not paid in time by Google. So there won’t be any problem about payments. The complain I always hear and read in the Web are coming from publishers whose account had been suspended or banned because of various violations and click frauds. It only means the Google AdSense Team are just doing their job that each publisher should adhere to although there are varying cases claiming that the penalties given to them were unjustified. But these are rare instances and you could always contact Google regarding your Google AdSense account if there is any problem. Bottom line is, we have to follow strictly the Google AdSense program if we want to stay in this profitable business.

Google AdSense is not for everyone and it is not a get-rich-quick scheme, if you want to earn decently from it, you have to put in a lot of work. First you need to provide quality content after that you have to promote your website to acquire quality and targeted traffic. While doing this there are rules to be followed; strict rules set forth by the Google Webmaster Guidelines and rules from the Google AdSense Program Policies (please read them carefully). Doing all this might be a daunting task, but the end results will provide you a steady, decent and stable income. What more is we help the largest search engine in the Internet to provide us the most relevant search results.
